Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how LedgerlyPlan ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use our free online expense tracker app at ledgerlyplan.com (the "Service"). We wrote it in plain language because LedgerlyPlan's core design limits data collection: your income and expense transactions are never sent to external servers.

1. Your budget data stays on your device

The income and expense entries you add to the planner are stored using your web browser's localStorage, a storage mechanism built into every modern browser. This data:

• is never transmitted to Ledgerly's servers or any third party;
• is only accessible from the browser and device where you entered it;
• persists until you clear it yourself, clear your browser's site data, or use a private/incognito window (which discards it when the window closes);
• is entirely your responsibility to back up — use the Export CSV, Export Excel, or Export PDF buttons to keep a copy elsewhere.

Because we never receive this data, we cannot see, recover, back up, or delete your budget entries on your behalf.

2. Information we do collect

We collect a small amount of standard technical information to operate and improve the Service:

• Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic, such as which pages are visited and roughly how many people use the site. This typically includes your IP address (processed with IP anonymization enabled), browser type, device type, and pages viewed. See Google's own privacy policy for details on how Google Analytics processes data.
• Contact form submissions. If you use the contact form or email us directly, we receive the name, email address, and message you choose to provide, so we can respond to you.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider may log basic technical request data (such as IP address, timestamp, and requested URL) for security and reliability purposes, in line with standard web hosting practices.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

Ledgerly itself does not set marketing or advertising cookies. On your first visit, a banner asks whether you'd like to allow analytics cookies; Google Analytics only loads and sets cookies after you select "Accept." Selecting "Decline," or ignoring the banner, means no analytics cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which will show the banner again on your next visit. Your budget entries are stored separately in localStorage (see Section 1) and are unaffected by this choice either way.

4. How we use the information we collect

• To understand how the Service is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it;
• To respond to messages sent through the contact form or by email;
• To maintain the security, performance, and availability of the Service.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your contact form messages for advertising purposes.

5. Data sharing

We do not share your budget data because we do not have it. Aggregate analytics data is processed by Google Analytics under Google's terms. We may disclose limited technical information if required to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights, or investigate potential abuse of the Service.

6. Your choices

• Clear a single month or all of your budget data at any time using the "Clear this month" or "Clear all data" buttons in the planner.
• Clear your browser's site data manually to remove all locally stored information for this site.
• Use a private/incognito browsing window if you don't want any entries retained after your session.
• Block analytics cookies through your browser or a browser extension.

7. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
